Spotify have launched two new services in recent months, Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Open and surely this can only mean two things? The first, some may see as a good thing, you won’t have to spend £10 to get rid of the ads but the second some may not look upon with such happiness, Spotify free’s days are certainly numbered, very numbered.

Evidently Spotify Open, which is ad funded and delivers 20 hours of free music per month will replace Spotify free. Thankfully if you’re already a free user then things won’t be changing in the foreseeable future and you can still offer your invitations out to your friends who want to join up (while they still can!) although we wouldn’t be surprised to see the invite option disappear very quickly.

As well as Spotify free maybe being scrapped, cheap mobile phones may very quickly have an extra £10 or £20 or in some cases even more than that put on to their price as mobile phone deals and especially the ones that include Spotify Premium will be increasing as more and more people are starting to use Spotify on their mobile phones.

Hopefully we will still have some form of Spotify free in the months, maybe years to come but I suppose only time will tell.
